The Most Trusted Annual Gathering for Couples Therapists Returns!
Get field-tested frameworks, in-the-room micro-interventions, and case formulation upgrades you can use immediately—especially when sessions turn volatile, shut down, or spiral into blame.
  • After the Affair — When betrayal collapses certainty and floods the room with pain, this training shows you how to hold both devastation and possibility without rushing repair or polarizing the couple.
  • Narcissism, Betrayal & the Couples Room — The hidden wound behind narcissistic abuse, betrayal trauma, and the clinical framework that finally makes clients’ “Why can’t I just leave?” make sense.
  • When Closeness Feels Dangerous — For couples where closeness itself triggers danger signals, this training shows you how traumatic attachment lives in the body, drives “trauma‑logic” reactions, and can be safely regulated in session.
  • When "I'm the Victim" Stops the Work — The silent driver of therapeutic stagnation: when innocence becomes a permission slip to stay stuck—how to spot it in minutes.
  • Sex Is the Relationship — Why communication, attachment, and conflict work plateau when sex stays off‑limits, and how integrating sex therapy reactivates real relational change.
  • IFS, Attachment & the Couples Room — For sessions filled with flooding, shutdown, blame, and shame, learn how to intervene when attack, defense, and control are survival responses, not character flaws.
  • EFT in the Trenches — When couple sessions spiral into confusion, reactivity, and “now what?” moments, these micro‑moves show you exactly what to do next, moment‑by‑moment, to create real change events instead of stalemates.
  • Neurodivergent Couples: A New Clinical Lens — Use Gottman’s Sound Relationship House through a neurodivergent lens to see exactly where relationships break down, and how to rebuild them without forcing neurotypical norms.
  • The Communication Skills Trap — The couples who communicate beautifully in session can still be failing at consent, and you’ll miss it unless you know what to look for.
And that's just the beginning.
PLUS: Register now and get lifetime access to three of our best, hand-selected workshops from previous trainings including — Esther Perel, John & Julie Gottman, and Terry Real — yours to keep, with CE credits included!

Attachment, Managing Emotions and Trauma
Building Capacity for Attachment, Differentiation, and Ongoing Intimacy
A Developmental Approach to Couples Therapy
Ellyn Bader, PhD
Helping couples communicate better is no longer enough. In this opening keynote, Dr. Bader challenges clinicians to shift from managing relationship symptoms to developing each partner's emotional capacities — building the foundation for sustained change. You'll leave with a sharpened clinical lens and practical tools for creating meaningful growth in even the most entrenched relational patterns.
  • Distinguish symptom-focused approaches from developmental ones and know when each is warranted
  • Identify clinical indicators of limited emotional capacity — dysregulation, polarization, conflict avoidance
  • Apply targeted interventions that build partner capacity based on observed relational dynamics

8:00 am – 9:15 am

Attachment Injury and Trauma Activation in Couples
Using IFS‑Informed and Neuroscience‑Based Interventions to Increase Safety
Wayne Baker, LPC
When couples arrive flooded, guarded, and reactive, what looks like conflict is often fear. Drawing from IFS, attachment theory, and relational neuroscience, Wayne Baker shows how old wounds get activated in present-day relational conflict — and how therapists can respond in ways that reduce escalation and restore safety. Leave with immediately applicable tools for your most distressed and trauma-impacted couples.
  • Recognize trauma-driven attachment protest underlying reactive, guarded, or withdrawn couple presentations
  • Apply IFS-informed parts work to de-escalate conflict and increase emotional safety
  • Use neuroscience-based interventions to help couples shift from survival responses toward secure connection

  • Recognize key attachment signals and harness them to create lasting change events

When Intimacy Feels Unsafe
Healing the Legacy of Traumatic Attachment in Couples
Janina Fisher, PhD
Childhood trauma leaves a lasting imprint — not just on individuals, but on their intimate relationships. Dr. Fisher explores how early attachment failures live in the body and get activated by the people we love most. Through lecture, video, and clinical examples, you’ll gain trauma-informed strategies to help couples shift from reactive blame cycles toward curiosity, co-regulation, and genuine repair.
  • Articulate the neurobiological and psychological effects of traumatic attachment on couple dynamics
  • Implement mindfulness-based interventions to disrupt habitual trauma-driven relational patterns
  • Use somatic techniques to help partners regulate intense reactions to closeness and distance

Differentiation: Conflict, Polarizations and Unique Relationship Challenges
Treating Betrayal Trauma:
Help Clients Who Experience Narcissistic Abuse & Antagonistic Relational Stress
Ramani Durvasula, PhD
Betrayal in narcissistic relationships extends far beyond lying and cheating — it’s a chronic erosion of trust, safety, and self. This session applies Dr. Jennifer Freyd’s betrayal trauma theory to antagonism-informed clinical work, helping therapists understand trauma bonding, betrayal blindness, and why clients stay stuck. Expand your framework and sharpen your interventions for one of the most complex presentations in couples therapy.
  • Utilize betrayal trauma theory in work with clients experiencing narcissistic/antagonistic relational stress
  • Apply the concept of “betrayal blindness” to understand trauma bonding and selective recall
  • Differentiate betrayal trauma from other trauma types to validate and stabilize clients effectively

Why “Communication Skills” Fail:
Consent, Differentiation, and the Real Work of Couples Therapy
Fiona O'Farrell, PhD, LMFT, CST-S
When skilled couples still stay stuck, the issue is rarely communication. This session uncovers how disruptions in consent and differentiation drive the most persistent relational challenges — conflict, withdrawal, desire discrepancy, and disconnection. Clinicians will walk away with a deeper clinical framework and concrete language to move clients from surface-level skills toward authentic relational change.
  • Recognize consent dynamics embedded in everyday relational patterns
  • Understand how differentiation directly shapes desire, boundaries, and connection
  • Apply interventions that move clients from communication techniques to deeper relational work

What You Need to Know to Adapt Your Practice for Minds of All Kinds
Michelle Frank, PsyD
Neurodivergent couples bring unique relational strengths — and unique vulnerabilities shaped by lived experiences of masking, misattunement, and chronic stress. This clinically rich workshop equips therapists with neuroaffirming tools grounded in Gottman’s Sound Relationship House, exploring ADHD, ASD, attachment, and sexuality with a strengths-based lens. Leave equipped to offer neurodivergent and mixed-neurotype couples genuine hope.
  • Apply core neuroaffirming principles immediately within your existing clinical practice
  • Understand how ADHD and ASD impact adult attachment styles and relationship patterns
  • Use ND-friendly emotional and sensory regulation tools to support co-regulation and hard conversations

Overcoming a Victim Mindset
Using Metacognitive Programming and Differentiation-Based Interventions to Identify and Deconstruct Victimhood
Ellyn Bader PhD & Misha Saidov
The victim mindset quietly stalls couples development — keeping partners locked in blame, innocence, and emotional gridlock. Drawing on Metacognitive Programming (MCP) and the Developmental Model, Bader and Saidov offer a powerful clinical lens for understanding why well-intentioned couples stay stuck and how to shift the dynamic from accusation toward shared responsibility and real transformation.
  • Understand how the experience of innocence creates and sustains a victim mindset
  • Identify the emotional capacities whose absence entrenches victim-blaming and unresolved resentment
  • Apply a paradoxical approach to motivating accountability and breaking therapeutic stagnation

Sex Therapy for Relationship Therapists:
Why You Can’t Do Couples Work Without It
Tammy Nelson, PhD, LPCC, CSCT, CST
If you work with couples, you’re already doing sex therapy — consciously or not. Dr. Nelson challenges therapists to stop treating sexuality as a specialty and start recognizing it as the relational pulse point it is. This provocative, clinically grounded session helps therapists overcome avoidance, build erotic fluency, and integrate sex into couples work in ways that unlock deeper honesty and lasting change.
  • Identify sexual dynamics as expressions of relational patterns — not isolated bedroom problems
  • Differentiate sexual dysfunction as pathology from sexual disconnection as a relational process
  • Apply integrative sex therapy interventions within your existing couples therapy framework

Post-Infidelity Couple Therapy:
Tending to Pain & Possibility
Alexandra Solomon
Few presentations in couples therapy carry higher stakes — or greater opportunity for transformation. Dr. Solomon offers a compassionate, multi-stage framework for supporting both betrayed and betraying partners, addressing common clinical barriers including therapist countertransference and client trauma responses. This workshop builds the skills and self-of-the-therapist awareness clinicians need to guide couples toward genuine repair and post-traumatic growth.
  • Navigate the complex emotional terrain of post-infidelity work with both partners effectively
  • Identify barriers to trust restoration and apply stage-based strategies to support healing
  • Leverage the crisis of infidelity as a catalyst for individual and relational post-traumatic growth

If you do not plan to attend any of the live conference, you can simply purchase the recording package on this page and earn self-study CE credits on each workshop in that package at any time in the future.
After the conference we’ll add the entire conference into your learning portal where you’ll have lifetime access to each workshop. This package comes with self-study CE credits. Simply watch the workshop you’d like, take the short post-test, and you’ll receive a certificate based on your license. This recording package will be delivered to your learning portal in 4-6 weeks after the event.
This is a great conference for any practicing mental health professional if you’re interested in being able to better understand relationships and how to help your clients improve them.
If you purchased a live in-person or virtual registration, we’ll send you the information you need to complete for credit and receive a certificate based on your license eligibility.

If you purchase the recording package, you’ll be able to watch each session recording, take a brief post-test, and receive a certificate based on your license eligibility.
